Sanofi ANZ appoints Liz Selby as Country Lead after serving as acting leader

Health Industry Hub | November 1, 2024 |

Leadership & Management: Sanofi has appointed Liz Selby as the Country Lead and Head of Pharma ANZ, with immediate effect. This decision places Selby in a permanent role, overseeing the company’s core operations and strategic growth across Australia and New Zealand.

In recent months, Selby has navigated the local team through a period of significant modernization as the company prepares for its future in immunology leadership. Alongside this transformation, she has adeptly managed the essential day-to-day operations that support Sanofi’s commitment to customers, patients, and employees.

This leadership transition came as Karen Hood stepped down from her role as Country Lead. Additionally, Rebekah Cassidy, Sanofi’s Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for ANZ, took on the role as CEO of AusBiotech.

Selby leads the recently integrated Pharma business unit, overseeing key portfolios such as Immunology, Diabetes, Rare Disease, Rare Blood Disorders, and Virtual Healthcare. She is also responsible for Sanofi’s local operations, including Trade, Market Access, and Corporate Affairs, bringing a broad scope to her mandate.

Reflecting on Sanofi’s strategic direction, Selby stated, “The next chapter of Sanofi’s Play to Win Strategy will challenge us to take steps that optimize the way we work, accelerate innovation, and deepen our investment in R&D as we evolve into a company powered by AI. The team in Australia & New Zealand never settles, and we’re ready to keep delivering.”

Selby’s career began as a frontline health worker, and her extensive experience in the healthcare industry complements her business acumen. Prior to her Country Lead role, Selby’s led the Sanofi team as General Manager of the Specialty Care division. Known for her sense of purpose and drive for continuous improvement, she strives to inspire others through her approach to leadership and development.

In addition to senior leadership responsibilities, Selby is committed to inclusivity as an Ally and Sponsor of Sanofi’s Pride+ community. She has also taken on the role of Sponsor for the Gender+ community, further supporting diversity and representation within the organisation.
